Neck injuries are very common, especially to those involved in vehicular accidents.  The most common type of neck injury is what is called, “Whiplash.”  The main reason it is so common in vehicle accidents is that the vehicle headrest on the back of car seats, limits the range of extension in your neck.

Although vehicular accidents are the most common cause of Whiplash, a blow to the head, face, or chin, uncontrollable episodes of coughing or falls can also cause these injuries.

These injuries are extremely painful and can be persistent.  Chronic pain is common if medical attention is not sought immediately.  Whiplash neck injuries are among the fastest growing health problems today because of congested roads and highways, the speeds at which we now travel and more powerful engines and breaking systems.

Often the impact of whiplash and its symptoms may not be felt right after an accident.  Whiplash usually doesn’t become apparent for about 12 to 24 hours after the accident.   Pain can also involve the neck, shoulders and arms. Headaches are frequent complications to whiplash injury.

Other Symptoms of Whiplash:

  • Headache

  • Neck pain and restricted movement

  • Tiredness and feelings of nervousness

  • Trouble with balance, equilibrium

  • Ringing in the ears

  • Nausea

  • Inability to sleep and excessive sweating

For most patients, the symptoms of whiplash usually subside in 2 to 4 weeks.  If yours persist beyond 6-8 weeks, consult your physician for further evaluation.

If you are suffering with Whiplash because of the negligence of another, you may be entitled to compensatory damage for your injury and losses. Kantrovitz & Associates can help you determine what compensation that you are entitled to.  Damages may include medical costs, lost income, future lost earnings, pain and suffering, mental anguish, and disability.  Please contact Kantrovitz & Associates right away if you think that you are experiencing Whiplash.  The statute of limitations for a personal injury lawsuit varies by state, but it is usually a very short time frame.  It is often only 2 years or less from the date of injury, so a delay could mean loss of compensation for you and your family.
